Blog Setup Checklist

First Impressions.

Phase I. Initial Setup. Time: 20 minutes or less.

Step 1: Install Blog.

Step 2: Login http://domainname.com/wp-admin

Step 3: Enable XML-RPC

Step 4: Add Pinglist

Step 5: Change Permalinks. Paste resulting code into htaccess.

Step 6: Manage Posts – “Delete Hello World Post”

Step 7: Manage Pages – Open and rename “about” to a site keyword. Edit page copy. Anything related to your site. Keep it short for now.

Step 8: Mange Links – Delete all links.

Step 9: Rename Link Category Blogroll, to Links.

Step 10: Manage Category – Rename “uncatagorized” to blog keyword.

Step 11: Edit Comments: Delete Comment.

Phase II: Blog Preparation.

Step 12: Choose themes and plugins for uploading.

Step 13: Upload themes and plugins.

Step 14: Choose Theme: Are you a blog or a website or something else?
